“Jia Jia yo ben nan nain de jing” is a Chinese saying. This saying literally means, every family has a hard-to-read scripture, which is a metaphor that every family is bound to encounter problems that are difficult to solve.
This work is an alternative book inspired by the scriptures printed and circulated by temples. Believers seek spiritual peace and relief by reading and reciting scriptures, but ” Jia Jia yo ben nan nain de jing ” blurs the text into images, using the “unreadable” state as a metaphor to symbolize the complex and incomprehensible chaos in the family.
In the exhibition place, people can directly pick up the books and donate printing fee, or fill in the form online to help printing and spread the work widely. Rooting inspiration from Taiwanese temple traditional cus- toms, this practice embodies the concept of ‘charity’ through the produc- tion of printed scriptures. This work would like to explore how the public can acquire and spread information through online and physical interac- tions.
