海與岸 The Hostess

下海常被用來指涉進入酒店產業，入行就是淪落風塵、捲入危險的海，大眾為酒店小姐定義生活處境，在社會既有的道德框架中，她們是一群失語的人。《海與岸》記錄了三位酒店工作者的眞實樣貌，以及他們從酒店去汙 名倡議到組織工會，與社會對話的過程，但來自於家人或大眾的不理解， 又該如何面對?

In Taiwan, xià hǎi (go down to the sea) is used to describe female who involve in sex industry, falling into a socially unre- spectable profession, namely, be drawn into the dangerous sea, which is defined by the society for these hostesses.

The Hostess extends this concept and focuses on the actions of three hostesses trying to reverse the “sea” and “shore” while facing the incomprehension of their families and carrying stig- matized labels.

In this film I reimagined the main characters’ costume design and presented them throughout the film as a visual representa- tion of the self-identity and mental state of these three hostess- es. This film features how the hostesses strike a balance between huge financial pressure and dreams, which is a subject that these three young and restless souls are constantly pursu- ing and exploring.
